Overview
In this project case study, I will be sharing my hackathon participation experience designing a healthcare management app. The hackathon was hosted by Aimset for their #AIMforImpact community.
Our goal was to develop and launch a user-centric virtual healthcare assistant to empower our users to take control of their health goals within the time constraints of the event.

Process
Breaking down the project
The design process for the healthcare management app focused on simplicity and ease of use, particularly for senior users. We created a simple design system using primary colors and making sure it met the WCAG standards for accessibility.
A rocky start
The initial team that was put together for us started with 7 UXDs, 2 devs, 3 UXRs, and 2 PMs. By the beginning of week 3, our numbers dwindled to what is listed at the top of this case study. While we lost a lot of hands on deck, we still managed to submit a project in time for it to be judged by the hosts. We did not place, but I'm still incredibly proud of the work we were able to achieve with a lean team and minimal communication.
Outcome
The final outcome of the web app was minimal, but efficient. The team focused as much time as we could on development and putting together the presentation once the design was completed.
We received praise from the event hosts for the work we presented, with them understanding that we lost a lot of team members and our mentor was not available to provide guidance to us at any point during the event time.
A few of us that were still remaining on the team decided to continue working on the project after the hackathon was completed.
